Inside the front covers are two luminous 19th-century paintings depicting scenes from the play, chosen for their atmosphere and sense of twilight magic. These images set the tone before a single word is written: this is a book meant for lingering.
In the front of the journal, excerpts from the play appear alongside natural history illustrations that echo Shakespeare’s imagery: the flowers, creatures, and woodland presences woven into the play.
